Be Counted: Fill Out the Census

You probably received your census forms in the mail last week, and it’s not going to come as any surprise to Shelterforce readers that filling out these forms is imperative.

Not only does the federal government dole out more than $400 billion to states and localities based on, in part, census data, but those data are used to determine hospital location, retail store data, school location and funding, new housing, and new community facilities — not to mention that it helps to shape Congressional and local legislative districts.
