Position Description:
The Director of Asset Management actively manages the long-term financial health of 900+ multi-family units within 15 properties while maintaining Avenue, Property Owner and Lender requirements.
In addition, this role ensures that ownership objectives for properties in the portfolio are clearly articulated, and that management policies and procedures reflect those objectives alongside Avenue's organizational values. The successful candidate is able to work in a dynamic environment.
The role currently supervises a team consisting of one Asset Management Analyst and one Regional Property Manager, who oversees a team of 4 Property Managers . This role will have an office at the main agency building, but will also travel to properties, as needed, for site supervision. The main office and properties are all located in the Houston, Texas, Metro area.
This role does not qualify for relocation assistance.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field. MBA Preferred but not required.
Experience
· 8+ years of related experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: Asset management, property management, affordable housing, LIHTC, HUD, debt refinancing and/or residential real estate development.
· Experience working with Sr. level executives, board members and executive committees
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to multi-task and adapt to challenging priorities in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Ability to interact professionally with financial partners, vendors and tenants.
Proven capability to analyze complex problems (financial and other) and to communicate results of analysis to others.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good professional, business and financial judgment.
Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers, as well as to work independently and to provide day-to-day oversight of assigned portfolio with minimum supervision.
Demonstrated proficiency using Excel and Word.
Experience with, or strong interest in, non-profit organizations and Avenue's mission.
Supervisory and Management Duties
This position supervises an Asset Management Analyst, a Property Management Staff, 8 portfolios;
Manages contracts between Avenue and 3rd party management firms.
